Why the focus on "Social Contexts"?

Science and technology are powerful engines of change, yet their journey from conception to impact is deeply intertwined with societal values, economic realities, ethical considerations, and public perception. This panel aims to illuminate these connections by addressing critical questions:

  • How do societal challenges and aspirations direct scientific inquiry?
  • What ethical duties do scientists and their institutions hold towards the public?
  • How can we bridge the gap between scientific communities and the wider public through effective communication?
  • What are the implications of scientific discoveries for social equity, governance, and cultural evolution?
  • How does the global diversity of cultures and contexts shape the practice and understanding of science?

Panelists

Our panel brings together leading voices from diverse backgrounds to offer a rich tapestry of perspectives on the session's theme.
